General Service Repair Technician

General Service Repair Technician will be responsible for basic repair duties and service maintenance on outdoor power equipment, trailers, plows and auto accessories. Technician will assist with performing preventative maintenance and general repairs on trailers to Customer and DOT standards. Responsibilities will also include, but not limited to servicing outdoor power equipment, plows and au-to/truck accessories.
Technician will complete all needed service maintenance, keeping quality, safety, and expediency at the forefront.
Technician duties:
Routine maintenance on outdoor power equipment (Lawn tractor/snow blowers) Basic seasonal maintenance, change tires, grease, change oil and filters in equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance on trailers/plows
- Trailer maintenance – NYSI, repack bearings, wiring and minor repairs
- Assist Senior Technician with installing and servicing of snowplows
- Assist Senior Technician with installing auto/truck accessories including, but not limited to: A.R.E Truck Caps, Tonneau Cover, Side Steps, Lights, Cargo Glide, Back Rack, Tow Hitch, etc.
- Operate air or hydraulic jack, press, hoist, forklift, hand tools, impact wrench, grinder, etc.
- Discuss equipment issues/ maintenance plans with Shop Manager as needed.
- Keep records of inspections, test results, work performed, and parts used on work order.
Important Qualities
Customer-service skills: Our Technicians may need to discuss problems and necessary repairs with other employees and/or customers. Courtesy, listening skills, patience, and preparedness to answer customers’ questions are what we expect.
Detail oriented: Awareness to small details when inspecting or repairing engines and components.
Dexterity: Must have a steady hand and good hand–eye coordination for many tasks, such as disassembling engine parts, connecting or attaching components, and using hand tools.
Mechanical skills: Must be familiar with engine components and their interactions with other systems. Technicians will often disassemble major parts for repairs and must be able to put them back together properly.
Organizational skills: Keep workspace clean and organized in order to maintain safety and ensure accountability for parts.
Troubleshooting skills: Use diagnostic equipment on engine systems and components to identify and fix problems. They must be familiar with electronic control systems and the appropriate tools needed to fix and maintain them.
